They were playing at the swimming pool, we had an amazing natural light late in the afternoon and we supported it with an off-camera flash and a little softbox. Here’s an interesting fact. They are able to keep this cute natural smile I think for days… we weren’t able to test it, but I’m quite sure about that. It’s a photographers haven to work with talents like them. I did not need posing, or any tips, just a “Hey .. look at me” and just pressing the shutter. We are really satisfied with this picture. You can barely feel their happiness. Aren’t they nice? Mom and daughter in the magic hour. We are very glad to be able to take this image. It’s a true family photo. They are hugging each other in this wonderful light of the setting sun. I used a studio strobe with a huge softbox to make the main light to them and used the golden sun flares as a backlight and rim light. We think it’s a really nice picture with really nice subjects. Then we found this nice location at the seaside old buildings in the background and a compelling golden sunset on the western sky. We used a white reflector to eliminate the shadows on the face. She’s just too sexy! What else to say? We did this job at her place, created an on-location studio in the apartment she’s been rented. We tried several different locations and setups. Already been working for at least 2 hours and got thirsty and tired. Then the magic happened. She lied to this ‘ugly’ couch, on the enormous red pillow and she looked up at me… I felt that’s it OMG: Keep it.. keep it… I jumped for the light and grabbed the camera. We found this ‘warlike’ wall in the room and created this moody setup. with four lights. The funny fact there used to be about 30 degrees and bright sunshine in just a few meters. We cut the natural light out and used this dirty ‘third world’ like room for cover. So I put him under this palm tree and told him to act like 1980’s drug lord with that cigar and he did it so convincing. This picture reserved the place in our portfolio for a longer therm. He has a unique character and a very nice personality. So we had to create a couple of portraits with him by the seaside. Then I realized that the line of his face showing something about him with setting sun in the background, so I didn’t hesitate. I underexposed my shot deeply and take a couple of tests. One thing you have to know about this place it’s enormous, wild and so beautiful … and so damn windy at the same time. So we had these friendly guys and took them to this place which used to be the main location for many fantasy and sci-fi movies. We made them stand in front of the cold windy desert. Respect. They were able to keep this compelling smiles till the end of the session. Also, respect to Kata as well. She’s been holding the big white umbrella with both hands and her whole body. A scene like from the new Mary Poppins movie played with crazy photographers up on the volcano. I like the way this couple loves each other. We went to the forest in our hometown and had a couple of magical pictures of them. It wasn’t easy to make it happen because usually, they are very busy. We really love the way they treat each other. Their love is often very visual and expressive, so I planned to take romantic pictures of them since I knew them. Finally, it’s been a reality, we were in the forest … and … and our main flash is off. I forgot to charge it. Jeez’ so what to do? Do not panic, act as you did it with a reason. ‘Ok guys we have beautiful light here, so I decided that we skip the big strobe, and we are going to use natural light with some reflector.’ To be honest, in the end, we are quite happy with the final results and so they are. They are living on the Island. We went to work with them to a really special location called Montana Amarilla - Yellow Mountain. It’s been named after the yellow sand rocky coastline which is unique even for a magical island as Tenerife. This image is very important to us because it’s from our first official photography project. Mother and Daughter asked me to create a surprise for the Grandma. Although it’s been many many years ago I still remember as it was yesterday. I used to be quite stressed before this job. It was the absolute No.1. session. Right after we started to work I became calm, clear, chilled and in the end, it was a wonderful experience. The Baby is getting to be a teenager, and sadly grandma’ left them. So this picture is three times important. It’s always worth to book a professional to be able to be there in these important moments. Not because it’s not easy to find them. What’s hard is to follow them with your camera. They are thinking about it as it’s a game where they need to hide from the camera and laughing loud about the photographers ‘no chance’ tryouts. After a lot of fun and laugh, finally, we got the result we wanted. The angels had some rest and gave us a real intimate moment. After all, used to worth it way more than I suspected before. I’ve been able to get one of the best images I’ve ever had. This is a studio set up with white walls in the background and a white textile on the floor to clean out the unwanted colors to shine back. It was so much fun and these girls are true angels and they are a pleasure to work with. They know many things about Tenerife, it’s not their first time here. We are old friends and we went to spend some time together. Dad, Akos has a favorite place here. It’s Guarachico. A small town covered with ancient history and a couple of layers of lava from the Teide Volcano. This town has a horrifying and miracle story. You can read more about it at the Location site. So we’ve been in the old town, and they're used to be some local traditional festivals in the days, and the center was decorated. I told them, to stand there in front of this enchanted street, and we did a couple of shoots. Many many years ago. We’ve been with a couple of friends in Balaton’s Highland to visit the ancient lavender fields. We knew what to expect, so of course, we had an easily folded softbox kit and some flashes in the backpack, not to mention the camera. Naomi took an outfit which is matching to the lavender fields. If I remember well, we worked very hard with expressions. For those who don’t know it’s not easy to act for the camera. Then we found a breakthrough. I used to work with her on a project for their group, and I’ve been really impressed by, how natural she’s playing with the camera. At her age, this is a common problem. I call it ‘self must syndrome’. The girls in her age usually can act very nice for the camera but only for their or girlfriend's cellphone and only in the mirror. That makes really hard to work with them, but not with Dominika. She’s natural and easy personality, not getting stacked from the spotlight, getting excited and boosted instead. The flash recharge mechanism has had a really hard job to keep the tempo with her. Funny thing that we have many nice pictures of her from that day, but still this portrait is what I put in the collection. Why? I can’t really tell. Maybe I like her mysterious expression on her face. She’s smiling and laughing a lot, but there’s a serious analytic smart somebody deep inside her. I used to be so tired before one hour, I was considering to ask them to do it another time… but then I put my last pack of energy together and went to the location set up my studio in the backroom, and started to work. We worked with this young couple for a couple of days, and traveled around Tenerife. We found an amazing location. The only problem was that it’s a constant danger to get there. It’s next to an exit of the TF-1 highway. It’s a magical garden of Eden beside to loud and noisy tracks of the motorway. If you want to take pictures there with your studio equipment, you’d better being fast, so you can reach this corner. We risked our lives but finally, we got inside safe. No man behind. If you composing here the right direction, it may look like a magical valley far from any human touch. I need to say it’s not easy to compose an engaging romantic shot while noisy trucks passing by in only a couple meters. The funny thing is that it worked. Look at their natural easy way of loving each other. Didn’t been bothered by the loud noise of running cars. Unfortunately, we had only a few amounts of time overlay together in the Islands, but we didn’t waste it. We created a few images of them. This is one of our favorites, it tells their story as adventurers. Their life is full of music, freedom, and love. It’s one of my first studio setup in our garage. We tried to create a picture like the cover of a PC game that used to be very famous at the time called ‘Need for speed’. Even it’s been the first try to create some light magic it was successful. We had a great time to work on this setup and as a part of my history as a photographer, it takes place in my portfolio. Although there’s plenty of palm trees on the island it’s hard to find one which wants to work nicely with a portrait composition. Finally, we found this cute square at the main square of Guarachico. This place is famous for the old town and really it creates a very special mood there. The old fashioned houses and the palm trees are creating the background of this image, so finally we got a profile picture with palm trees. We created this picture with a unique technique. Unique because it hurts one of the main rules of professional photography. We flashed our subject directly. If that wouldn’t be enough we did with extremely fast shutter speed and high-speed synchronization which is commonly known as a battery killer method. Whatever, the pictures working. He requested me to create a nice portrait of him that he can use in his business life. So I created this nice three light setup to him with this broad lighting and clear white background. I have to tell you two things. That used to be amazing to work with him. He’s straight natural personality without any bashfulness made it really easy to create the picture we wanted. The other thing is I know him very well for a long time ago and that used to be an extremely hot day, and when he asked me, does he have to take the CEO like pants as well I said no… You are quite ok in your underpants… That such a comical picture in my head, that he showed this serious expression with a suite on the top and an underpants on the lower parts.
